Our first ever paddling triathlon was a huge success! Most first year events hope to break even financially. We were able to donate $1400 dollars between the Northwoods Veterans’ Post “Raise the Flag” Campaign and to the Friends of the River Bend Trail. We have received a grant to advertise in Silent Sports Magazine which has readers from across the Upper Midwest. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive with 100% planning to come back and bring new participants. Local volunteer support was fantastic with commitments to come back next year.
This level of success for a first year event would not have been possible without the terrific support from our sponsors. We plan on repeating the same event with a few minor changes suggested by volunteers and participants. If you sponsored us last year (thank you, again!), we’ve made some small revisions to sponsor benefits. If you would like to sponsor us for the first time, I’ve included a chart of benefits at the end of this letter. Last year, this race accumulated over $6000 in expenses and we foresee similar costs this year as we add equipment, expand timing services, and increase advertising.
For those new to this triathlon, it will be held Sat, July 27, 2019. Athletes will check in Fri evening, race Sat am with awards to follow at Cenotaph Park in the early afternoon. Following awards, we have a raffle, the 1 mile “Lobster Crawl”, and Lobster Costume contest which then segues into Ballyhoo’s Lobsterfest that evening. A family can make this a weekend event to remember!
We offer 3 levels of sponsorship: Gold = $1000+, Silver = $500-$999, Bronze = 250- $499, Participant = up to $249. Details are shown on the back side of this page.
Your contribution may be in the form of 1) services mutually agreed upon by you and the committee, 2) items donated to athlete goodie bag which promote your business, 3) tax deductible cash donation or any combination of 1-3.
If you are interested in becoming a Silver or Gold sponsor, I must be notified by May 1 so that you are included on posters. All sponsors must notify me by June 1 for T-shirts and those eligible for Free Lobster Dinners. Those entering a free race entry will be given a password.
AS a perk, if you donate at the following levels, here is how you can further your advertising:
** designates you may choose either a free lobster dinner or a free entry into race.
# designates you may choose any combination of dinner or race entries up to 2 total

* The triathlon will be held preceding Lobsterfest, sponsored by Ballyhoos. There will also be a 1.1 mile Lobster Crawl Charity Fun Run/Walk in conjunction with Lobsterfest. This event is a family-oriented fun run/walk which begins and ends at Ballyhoos and will take place after completion of the triathlon awards ceremony and raffle.
