Race Information

The Black Squirrel Scurry is a paddling triathlon consisting of 3 phases: 2 mile kayak (or canoe) down the Prairie River, which averages about 2′ depth.  Phase 2 is a 17 mile road bike on pavement through Council Grounds State Park and rural roads north of Merrill.  The route ends at the Merrill Area Rec Complex (MARC).  Phase 3 is a 5k run on grass and crushed gravel trails around the MARC grounds and through Council Grounds State Park.  One can enter as a  solo athlete divided into age divisions, a relay of 2-3 people or a tandem in which you both start in a kayak or canoe, then both get out to bike then both run the course.  You don’t need to stay together, but it is more fun.  NEW: Double Tandem – 2 participants paddle in the same craft and both ride a tandem bike (bicycle built for 2).   There are discounts for participants 19 & under for solo or if both form a relay or tandem team.  We are offering an eBike solo division and eBike Relay division.  Race date is Saturday, July 27.
